Diane Hawes Police have arrested a 48-year-old woman after her male friend said she tried to stab him, prompting the man to sleep on the roof of his home. When an officer arrived about 3:15 a.m. Monday, he found the victim standing on the roof of his home in the 900 block of Boston Avenue with a pillow and blanket. He said he didn't want to come down because Diane Hawes had a knife. The victim said they'd argued earlier and he locked her out of the house. Feeling bad, he let her back in after a few minutes. He told investigators she eventually went to his television with a kitchen knife and cut his cable wire and they continued arguing. "While they were arguing, Diane would act like she was going to stab (the victim), by swinging the knife downwards towards him, but she would pull the knife back before it would cut him," an officer wrote in the arrest affidavit. That, the victim told police, is when he went outside with his pillow and blanket to sleep on the roof. Police thought Hawes was the primary aggressor and arrested her on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill charge, the affidavit states.
