A female passenger was found dead Wednesday morning on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Officials say she was inside one of the in-flight bathrooms.
It was the red eye from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
Delta flight 950 left Los Angeles at 10:30 Tuesday night.
Delta officials say it was a smooth flight for 259 passengers on a Boeing 76t with no signs of any problems most of the way.
No passengers or flight crew had any idea there was any thing wrong until early this morning when the plane was in sight of Atlanta.
The pilot was making his final approach here to Hartsfield Jackson when the crew realized there was a problem. Flight attendants were making their last flight check before landing and discovered the in-flight bathroom was occupied.
Delta officials say flight attendants found a female passenger unresponsive inside the bathroom.
They called for help from doctors on the plane who tried to treat the woman until the plane could land.
Airport emergency crews were waiting on the tarmac for the plane before it landed but by the time paramedics treated the patient she had already passed away.
Delta says as a matter of passenger privacy they aren't releasing any details about the victim but in statement a spokesperson says, "Deltas extends its condolences to the family. The incident did not impact other passengers or impact Delta operations in Atlanta."
A sad situation in the air that no one even knew was taking place until the plane was almost on the ground.
Authorities do not suspect foul play and have not released her name.
