Caroline Ralph, 18, of Oviedo, faces charges of battery, culpable negligence and disorderly conduct after the incident, which happened on Sunday at about 5:30 p.m. at the Chili's located at 800 Oviedo Marketplace Blvd. According to a Seminole County sheriff's report, several witnesses said that two females were sitting at a table throwing spitballs at each other. Some of the spitballs landed on the table where Ralph was sitting and she became very angry, the report said. Ralph confronted the females throwing the spitballs and started a confrontation, which disrupted customers eating in the restaurant, deputies said. Some patrons stood up to see what was happening and a few tried to help settle the confrontation, deputies said. Ralph paid her bill and was leaving the restaurant after screaming, yelling and cursing when she picked up a glass of water and poured it on one of the females who were throwing spitballs, the report said. She then tossed the glass, striking an infant who was being held by her mother, on the forehead, the report stated. The infant immediately began screaming and crying, and her mother said to Ralph, "You just hit my baby," the report stated. Ralph responded to the mother, "I don't care," and left the restaurant, sheriff's deputies said. The child's condition was not released. Ralph went to Kissimmee to study but returned to Oviedo later where she was arrested. Ralph told Seminole County sheriff's deputies that the females were intentionally throwing spitballs at the back of her head and that she did not know there was an infant in the restaurant. She also said the female she poured water on knocked the glass out of her hand, according to deputies. Ralph was transported to jail, where she was held on $600 bond.
