Joe Redner is offering free admission to his strip club to people who go out and vote. KUTV CBS Tampa A Tampa, Fla. politician has come up with a unique way to get voters to the polls, offer them free admission to a strip club.
Joe Redner, who’s in a runoff for a city council seat, said he was disgusted by the small voter turnout during the March 6th city election when only about 16 percent of registered voters went to the polls.
To entice a larger turnout, he’s now offering free admission to his Mons Venus strip club when patrons show their "I voted" sticker at the door. The cover charge is usually $20.
State elections officials say what Redner is doing is legal, since there is no Florida statute that prevents a business owner from offering a discount to voters for voting.
Redner said the offer is good during early voting as well as on election day -- March 27th -- and perhaps for a few days afterward.
