NY POST A New York City hunter who accidentally shot a 16-month-old girl to death in the Catskills has been sentenced to two to eight years in prison. Charly Ann Skala died last November after she was hit by a bullet that ripped through the wall of her grandparents’ mobile home in Swan Lake, about 80 miles north of New York City. Edward Taibi of Queens was in a tree stand when he wounded a deer. He then climbed down from the stand and fired a second time, hitting the home about 400 feet away. Taibi tearfully apologized at Tuesday’s sentencing in Sullivan County Court. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in June. It’s against the law to fire a gun within 500 feet of a home or business unless the hunter owns or leases the property, or has the owner’s consent.
