He can't deny it ever happened, but Mel Gibson succeeded Tuesday in getting his anti-Semitic drunken-driving incident scrubbed from his record.

The "The Passion of the Christ" director completed three years of probation last month with no violations, so a Malibu judge signed the request to expunge the notorious DUI.

Gibson, 53, was pulled over on suspicion of drunken driving in July 2006 and unleashed a tirade of profanity and religious epithets on his arresting officer, according to an arrest report.

"F------ Jews," the actor stormed after he was cuffed. "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

He threatened Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy James Mee and asked, "Are you a Jew?" Mee is Jewish.

The Oscar-winning "Braveheart" star failed field sobriety and alcohol breath tests at the scene, cops said.

Once at the station, Gibson continued his foul-mouthed tirade.

"What do you think you're looking at, sugar t--s?" he snapped at a female sergeant.

A first-time offender in California, Gibson received probation, fines and an order to attend Alcoholics Anonymous A meetings.

"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable," Gibson later said in a statement. "I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse."

The "Lethal Weapon" star has been dogged by allegations of anti-Semitism for his portrayal of Jews in his 2004 blockbuster about Jesus' crucifixion and statements by his father denying the Nazi Holocaust.

The question is this "fair" Well, if this is what anyone else would get then it is fair. Should not be given special treatment for being a star, nor should he be given harsher treatment just because he is a star.

OUTRAGE!!! In Kalifornia, a DUI is supposed to stay on the driving record for 10 years to enhance future charges of DUI. Expunged? I don't have enough non-expletive words to describe what I feel about this one. I have hated the Kalifornia justice system for years, and this just reinforces it. (15 years until retirement....I hope I win the lottery soon). I don't give a damn about his stardom, personal views on others, etc. But I do give a damn about a validated CONVICTION for DUI. The judge who approved this nonsense needs to be recalled.
