ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND

Maryland State Police said the remains found Saturday in an Anne Arundel County river have been ruled to be that of bear.

The State Medical Examiner's office says the remains are not that of a human, but rather a bear, whose claws and other parts were skinned and thrown into the river, WBAL-TV reported. No one will face charges.

The two severed feet and part of a wrist were recovered near a river in Anne Arundel County, according to state police.

Investigators said they first received a call at about 7:15 a.m. Saturday about a foot that had washed up on a beach along the Magothy River near the 400 block of Riverside Drive.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department marine units and a dive team were called to search the water, at which time a second foot was found.

Police said a homeowner five houses north of the original call found the second foot.

In addition to the dive team and other emergency personnel, cadaver dogs were brought out to aid in the search.

Officers said the wrist was found at about 12:30 p.m. in Cockey Creek near the 300 block of Kramer Road.

Investigators said at the time they believe the remains are those of an human adult, but that it could also be the remains of an animal.
