CHICAGO SUN-TIMES Four teens face felony charges Wednesday after they allegedly tagged the Chicago Police Memorial and a tunnel near Soldier Field. The four teens allegedly spray-painted the police memorial, in the 1400 block of South Museum Campus Drive, between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to police News Affairs Officer Kevin Kilmer. The teens also allegedly tagged the tunnel that runs under Solidarity Drive, Kilmer said. The graffiti was not anti-police or gang-related, Kilmer said. Camerino Hernandez, 18 and Haily Ann Galvin, 17, both of the 3000 block of South Loomis, Jessica Monahan, 17, of the 300 block of West 31st Street; and a male juvenile whose age is not being released were charged with felony criminal defacement of property, police said Wednesday night. Officers on patrol spotted the foursome running from the scene and placed two in custody, Kilmer said. The other two were apprehended following interviews where the two arrested teens admitted to vandalizing the memorial. “This cowardly act by a few young people is an insult to the dedicated members of Chicago Police Department and law enforcement everywhere,” police Supt. Jody Weis said in a statement. “It is unthinkable that they would attempt to disgrace an area that is so meaningful to the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to the men and women who serve and protect with honor and courage everyday." Court information for the teens was not immediately available.
