:

James Edward Anderson

Culpeper County police have arrested a man suspected of setting a woman on fire during an argument.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on August 10, deputies received a call for a domestic assault in Brandy Station, Va.

When they arrived they found a thirty-seven year old woman with burns to her head and neck being assisted by fire personnel.

The victim said that she was driving her car with her twelve-year old daughter in the back seat and forty-five year old James Edward Anderson in the front seat.

Anderson allegedly assaulted the victim while she was driving and sprayed her with a flammable liquid. When the victim pulled the car over to the side of the road and began to exit the vehicle, Anderson allegedly threw a lit match at her causing her to catch fire.

The female victim was able to remove the clothing that was on fire and stop a passerby for assistance.

The victim's twelve-year old daughter was able to exit the vehicle before Anderson fled the scene in the car.

The victim was transported to Culpeper County Regional Hospital for treatment of her burns.

James Edward Anderson was arrested by police on Tuesday.

Specific charges have not yet been listed.
